Infected is the first platform in Europe that has been constructed specifically to deal with the significant instant scalability demands of online campaigns.
There is no longer any need to maintain large numbers of servers for a whole year when your annual campaign may only last a few weeks.
Infected is a shared campaign hosting platform that allows fast, reliable and scalable content hosting to be purchased on a per campaign basis.
The platform is based on a number of Linux or Windows servers behind a cluster of powerful load balancers. There is a separate FTP server allowing one upload/update of content only, and nodes within the platform utilise resilient and fast, shared backend storage. Additionally, Infected can accommodate database hosting requirements (MySQL or MS SQL) as required by particular campaigns.
The platform is connected directly to the Ultraspeed core network via redundant Gigabit Ethernet feeds, where the Ultraspeed core network routes traffic quickly and efficiently to end users.
Ultraspeed utilise strong firewalls based on each node within the Infected platform, rather than creating an extra bottleneck by using a firewall in front of the nodes serving content to end users. Due to the nature of the platform, each node runs a very limited set of applications and has no access (except via http) to the public internet.
Content is stored within Ultraspeed's SAN (Storage Area Network) where it is held away from the public internet. Each customer's service is accessible via a dedicated FTP server, where strong password authentication and ACLs are used on a per campaign basis.
All data storage for campaigns is stored on Ultraspeed's SAN - this system is capable of over 100,000 I/Os per second and has almost unlimited storage scalability. Data is physically stored on arrays of Fibre Channel hard drives – in practice though, campaign data will be held in memory by each node on the platform and disk access on the SAN will mostly be for logging purposes. Any databases hosted by Infected will also be stored here.
Ultraspeed's core network is built on a fully redundant basis on Cisco routers and switches. Ultraspeed are members of LINX (London Internet Exchange) and participate in private peering with the majority of the large ISPs in the UK (to avoid congestion and ensure fastest route to end users). In addition to this, Interoute, Telia and Cogent are utilised for transit services. These carriers have been selected for their complimentary network footprints, ensuring optimal routing to end users wherever they are in the world.
Ultraspeed offers a 100% uptime guarantee for the Infected service - this means that as long as your content is uploaded to our platform correctly, we will ensure it’s served to your end users without interruption.
